Grace for the In-Between

Hallway symbolizing the in-between season

There are seasons when life feels like a hallway- long, quiet, and unfamiliar. You’re not who you were, but you’re not yet who you’re becoming. You’re standing somewhere in the middle, holding pieces of the old you while reaching for the new you God is forming,

The in-between can feel tender and disorienting. Old rhythms don’t fit anymore, but new ones haven’t settled in yet. You’re shedding, stretching, learning, unlearning. You’re waiting for clarity while walking through questions. You’re stepping forward while still healing from what’s behind you.

And yet… this middle space is not a mistake. It’s a meeting place.

It’s where God slows your pace so you can hear Him again. It’s where He loosens what once defined you. It’s where He strengthens what will carry you. It’s where He whispers identity into the parts of you still becoming.

Philippians 1:6 reminds us that

“…He who has begun a good work in you will complete it….” (NKJV)

This means the in-between is not the absence of God’s work— it’s often the center of it. You are not stuck; you are being shaped. You are not behind; you are being built. You are not forgotten; you are being formed.

You don’t have to rush through this season. You don’t have to force the becoming. You don’t have to pretend you are already whole, already finished, already transformed. God offers grace for the unfinished places. Grace for the questions. Grace for the slow unfolding. Grace for the days when you feel suspended between who you were and who you’re called to be.

He meets you in the middle— not with pressure, but with presence.

Let this be your reminder: becoming takes time, and God is patient with your process. You are allowed to to grow slowly. You are allowed to rest while He reshapes you. You are allowed to be held while you transition from one version of yourself to the next.

There is grace for the in-between. There is grace for your becoming.

Closing Prayer

Lord, meet me in the middle places— the quiet, uncertain, unfinished spaces where You are shaping me. Help me release what no longer fits and receive what You are forming. Give me grace for the becoming and peace for the transition. Remind me, please, that I’m not walking it alone. Amen.
